Plastic Containers that Fit Bikes At Work Trailers
2012-12-16
We designed our A-series cargo bicycle trailers to carry standard 18 gal. Rubbermaid Roughneck™ storage containers (sku #2215). There are other containers that will fit the A-series trailers, and a few that will fit the AW-series, too. We measured all of the storage containers available at two "big-box" discount store chains and compiled a list of the ones that will fit our trailers frames without requiring a floor. That list is shown below.
Note that you may not be able to fit as many Sterlite containers on A- and AD-series trailers compared to those made by Rubbermaid or Homz. That because these bins are wider at the top.

The containers available for AW- and AWD-series trailers are much wider than those available for A- and AD-series trailers. Consequently, fewer containers will fit on these trailers.

In addition to the containers listed here, there are large containers in the 35-50 gallon / 132-189 L sizes that will fit on some of our longer trailer models. In general, these do not fill up the trailer frame as fully, and we therefore did not include them. If you need to carry cargo that is too long to fit in the containers listed above, you might want to consider one of these instead.
